“Five years ago I performed at my first ArtWorks with my best friend Nicole. I played the
piano, which was nerve-racking enough, but then I watched Nicole get up and sing. I had never sung by myself in front of that many people before and I remember thinking how brave she was. Three months later, Nicole passed away. Two weeks later, I sang my first big solo in church. Every year since, I have sung at ArtWorks. Since this February will be the 5 year
anniversary of Nicole’s death, I am singing this song for her. The song, ‘To Where You Are’ says everything I want her to know, how what is most important to me is that she is smiling and happy in Heaven, but how I will still always love and miss her and am comforted knowing she is still with me, giving me the strength and bravery I need to make it through each day.”
